In Ghana, we offer a unique and comfortable homestay accommodation for our volunteers and students, ensuring an enriching experience during their stay. Our residence is a spacious 5-bedroom self-contained house, designed to provide a welcoming environment while fostering a sense of community among the Medical students.

The accommodation features four shared rooms, with bunk beds, allowing for meaningful connections. The house includes exclusive water closet toilets and baths specifically designated for volunteer use, ensuring privacy and comfort. Conveniently located, the house is just a short 5–10-minute drive from the local hospital (2.9 kilometers), making it easy for volunteers to access their placements while immersing themselves in the vibrant community around them. The house boasts a large playground, complemented by volleyball and basketball/netball courts, providing ample opportunities for recreation and relaxation. These facilities not only promote physical activity but also encourage team bonding among volunteers.

Typical day of student/volunteer in Ghana

A volunteer’s day in Ghana begins early, waking up around 6:30 AM and enjoying a hearty breakfast with the host family. By 8:00 AM, they head to their assigned healthcare facility for a morning briefing and start engaging in patient care, assisting healthcare professionals with various tasks. After break at noon, volunteers continue their afternoon duties, which may include community outreach and health workshops. They wrap up around 2:00 PM and return home, sharing stories from their day. Evenings involve dinner with the host family, where volunteers bond and learn about local culture, followed by some activities or relaxation. The day typically ends around 9:00 PM, allowing volunteers to recharge for another fulfilling day ahead.

Program Requirements

The program accepts medical students, medical specialist and professionals who are looking for an opportunity to volunteer in Ghana.

Program duration

Our program runs for 4 weeks and 8 weeks

Visa

Volunteers will be assisted with visa processing and given necessary support such as a visa application assistance letter and all required document in aid of the visa process.

Airport Transfers

Volunteer/students will be given pick up services from the Kotoka International Airport.

Travel Insurance and Vaccination

Student and general travelers are advised to get travel insurance and if they do already, always come with it. Necessary vaccinations are strictly encouraged.
